Leon Gieco integrates themes of war and suffering in his music
Often times music and art is the only way to penetrate the isolation of certain social and cultural groups. Leon Gieco and other - trovadores were able to use music to reshape the actions and values of many. The song, "Solo Le Pido A Dios," has helped alter the worldview of many Latin American peoples.

SOLO LE PIDO A DIOS
words and music by Leon Gieco
(This song simply says)
I only ask of God He not let me be indifferent to the suffering
Chorus (2x)

Art with a message
knk
Since Instituto Conexiones is engaged in supporting and studying projects that help connect us to nature, each other and our inner selves, art and cultural movements should be looked at as well, particularly those that are applied to real life. I will call this type of art "applied art."
Applied Art is my favorite type of art. I can think of dozens of artists that have made a difference in how I interpret the world - artists that have decided, often times at great risk to themselves, to speak out in relations to real life social and environmental issues. Artists use various mediums to help transform the world and express reality as they see it. They also help transform reality through their visionary work.
I hope to showcase and share the work of integrated artists on this blog. I like the blog format because it allows for the readers to comment and interact with what is being presented. Please feel free to share your thought and reflections to the different stories that will be published here.

Integrated Art
Our definition of Integrated Art is much broader than integrating technology and different art forms into art. The definition also includes a look at the subject matter and the message being portrayed and its integration with real life and topics of social topics (cultural/ecological/economic/political/historical/etc.)
Artists like Mercedes Sosa and Diego Rivera have integrated real life issues into their art form & and have reshaped their world by doing so. On this blog we will be showcasing and studying these kinds of artists to learn how to apply creative expression to transform reality and raise awareness about the issues and solutions of our time.
We will also look back into history and look at the role that integrated artists have had through time.
